Does consolidating library do
I have a large project, well over 500 clips that I need in 2 places, mac pro and a external drive for a laptop so 2 editors can be working at the same time.I figured I can copy the event from the library on the macpro to a new library on the ext drive. And if you use Apple Music or i Cloud Music Library, the best way to do that is still i Tunes. There are a few ways to back up your i Tunes library; it's important to choose one and regularly back up so that you won't have to worry about your local copy getting lost or damaged.Fcpx 10.1 has been riddled with bugs for me and I'm working off a clean install of Mavericks and I have to repair permissions and trash preferences almost daily. Yeah it's a mix, the library is fairly large so I have it spread out over a few drives.
Just make sure not to exclude i Tunes from your backup.
Your i Tunes library, a database that's made up of all of the music and other media that you add to i Tunes, is organized into two i Tunes library files and an i Tunes Media folder.
Before you back up your media, consolidate your library.
Once that's done, I consolidate the event files to a separate folder on the ext drive.
When I go to open the library on the laptop fromt the ext drive, it's missing about 18 files that are still being referenced on the macpro.
